PIO Renewal process in India ( PIO Card Renewal Process )

PIO renewal (PIO Card Renewal) process in India (i.e. Foreign nationals who are already in India):

- PIO Card (Person or Indian Origin Card) is valid for 15 Years. One needs to get PIO renewed once it expires after 15 years.

- If one renews his/her passport with-in 15 Years validity of PIO he / she is required to get new passport number endorsed on the PIO card. This happens specially in case of children, since their passport is renewed every 5 Years. For endorsement of new Passport number on PIO please see "Endorsement of new Passport Number on PIO card in India" section below.

-  "PIO renewal" & "Endorsement of new Passport Number on PIO card" should be a tad easier outside India. One can call Indian Embassy and ask for exact process. However, below is the process to follow when the PIO is already in India.
